So I”ve been watching a lot of Bill Maher”s show on HBO called Real Time. It”s a political show, somewhat like John Stewart or Colbert Report but with the luxury of language since it”s on HBO. Also there are much better guests on Real Time than I ever see on the other shows.
Since Bill Maher is, of course, a comedian the show has a lot of wit and banter but there are politicians, policy-makers, educators, scholars, celebrities, and other comedians or artists as guests each Friday night. I”ve only been watching for a few months now but there have been some very memorable episodes, including one with Kathy Griffin that I couldn”t stop laughing for 20 minutes (which made my stomach hurt btw).
What I like most about the show is that it addresses what is going on in America and other parts of the world (where we are) with a sense of seriousness that doesn”t somehow clash with all the comedic things that occur on the set and in the dialog. I like that it”s just.. “REAL”. That they can talk about issues and yet still have that pseudo light-heartedness that”s needed for life not to be such a downer. (If that makes any sense)
Although it airs on HBO, Real Time is available through many different avenues online. You should check it out!
