So I saw Sarah blog about what she’s getting with her tax return money and figured I’d post about what we plan to do with ours. Since Joshua is in the Navy we get pretty much every dime in taxes back. Especially so this year since I didn’t work, at all, the entirety of 2009. So here’s the list!
- New bicycle so I can go riding with Joshua
- Bike accessories for him and I
- Lani’s vet visit and spay surgery
- Eye appointment and new contacts
- Carpet cleaner & supplies
- Water heater + installation
- Payment on my brother’s Jeep (which I’m keeping)
- Paying down the loan for my house water filtration system
- Paying down two credit cards
There may be a little left over that I need to figure out what to do with. There’s some things I should get done, like taking the other two dogs to the vet, going to the dentist, etc. But I kind of want Joshua to get something out of it too. Who knows.

Gah you people are so lucky. Between my income and my husband’s income we’ll be lucky if we break even. I’m seriously preparing ourselves for the possibility of having to PAY!
It never used to be this way, but since I freelance and don’t pay any taxes out of the money I make, it comes out at the end of the year instead.

You should start a savings account and put the percent of each pay you get for taxes into the account, that way it’s all there at the end of the year for you to pay your taxes with and it doesn’t really hurt you throughout the year.
