About

Normally these sorts of pages would begin with “I’m not that great at writing about myself” but then I would be lying out my rear. Why anyone starts with that on a blog I’ll never know. (I mean you are talking about yourself on there right?)

For Starters...

I was born Keeshia Javier but five years ago my name changed to Barker. March 10th was the day and 2005 the year. I got married to a tall blonde-haired, blue-eyed hunk at the courthouse here in Viriginia. But that’s getting a little too far ahead. I was born on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii in a place called Wailuku.

I share my birthday with my husband Joshua, September 24th, though we are two years apart.I was born during “witching hour” and I guess it’s kind of funny that I identify most closely with religions that are pagan in nature.

Since Hawaii, I’ve called Las Vegas & Dallas home, but I now live in Virginia (as mentioned above) where we are constantly surrounded by military. I own a house here and it’s a nice two-story solid brick rectangle (lol) in a slowly shaping-up neighborhood just south of the local Uni.

My Daily Life

My days at the present are pretty boring at the present. I do all my schooling online via Baker College which is a school in Michigan. I’m majoring in Web Development and have until the end of 2011 till I’m finished. I play some games and watch movies/T.V. a lot. I read books and write stories, along with some crafty things like knitting and cooking. And when I remind myself I do housework (something I need to do more of).

I live with my Joosh (yes, that’s his nickname and it’s pronounced like whoosh), our two Great Danes (Ada & Ash), my chihuahua/dachsund puppy (Lani, short for Hualani), and three cats. My cats are a pain in the rear. His is a long-haired, solid black cat named Batgirl who has very, very slowly warmed up to us but still hates anyone else. Mine is a long-haired, black and white cat named XuXu who is what we call a “petting whore” because she will act like she doesn’t like you until you stop petting her and then you can’t get her off of you. And then our jointly-owned (I suppose.. even though I bought him lol) all white short-hair is Alabastor, the most pain in the rear of them all.

Alabastor is deaf and therefore fearless cause he can’t react to you yelling at him and he is oblivious to getting his butt smacked. He will get into anything and everything, knows how to tip the trash can, knows how to open cabinets, knows how to chew into a bag or box to get what’s inside.. yes he’s very annoying. BUT he’s also a big snuggler and will be more than happy to just lay around with you all day long, so long as there is petting involved.

What I like to do

Out of all the creative things I love dance the most. Throughout my years I’ve had the opportunity to learn Hula, Tahitian, traditional Irish step dancing (the less flashy version of Lord of the Dance/Riverdance), ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. I’ve been unable to dance at a school for almost two years now and I really miss it, but as soon as I’m able I’ll be returning to it. I think I’ll go back to Hula and to a hip-hop class. I only got to take a little of that style and I enjoyed it, so time to learn more!

I also enjoy playing music. Flute was my main instrument but since I started I’ve dabbled in several including clarinet & piano. I’m hoping to one day pick up the violin and perhaps the cello.

I love cooking and baking but don’t get to do a whole lot of it since the supplies don’t come cheap. I’d honestly love to do it as a living but it’s not exactly feasible at the moment. Perhaps one day!

Photography is something I do as a hobby only and I like it that way. I don’t think I’d like to do it professionally since I always think it can be better. I wouldn’t be a very good person to work with for it hah.
